A striking contemporary new build set in the scenic Scottish Borders village of West Linton. This home was carefully designed and constructed to combine structural integrity with refined modern finishes. The project involved significant groundworks and bespoke detailing to create a high quality, energy-efficient home.

Groundworks & Structure

The site required extensive excavation into the existing banking to form a spacious lower ground level that was fully excavated into the banking with a ground-bearing concrete slab installed. Large steel and concrete retaining wall constructed for long term structural stability. A full tanking system fitted to ensure waterproofing and durability. The first floor and rear section of the lower ground were built using timber frame construction, providing excellent thermal performance and efficient build quality.

Roof & External Finishes

The exterior aesthetic blends contemporary materials with natural textures:

• Corrugated sheet profile roof for a modern architectural finish

• Silicone white render system for a clean, low maintenance exterior

• Larch thermopine cladding adding warmth and contrast

• Feature corten steel panels framing the front door and external sitting-out area

The combination of materials creates a bold yet sympathetic design that complements the surrounding landscape. Windows were supplied and installed by Gold Seal Windows, featuring high-performance UPVC units that maximise energy efficiency and natural light.
